Evening of Dreams

Mark your calendar, Mitchell’s premier fundraising event is close at hand. April 4, 7pm at Room 1520, 1520 W Fulton Street. Join Mitchell staff, families and friends for an evening of food, drink, dancing, laughter and memories that last a lifetime. There will be raffles and a fabulous silent auction where everyone has a chance to win some great prizes, including special Classroom Projects made by our own Mitchell students, unique Teacher Outings, and fun Sign Up Parties!

Report Card Pickup Day Fundraiser for Friends of Mitchell

April 7th is Report Card Pickup Day. There is no school as parent teacher meetings are scheduled. Swing by Smoke Daddy BBQ at 1804 W Division,  for lunch or dinner and mention Mitchell. A portion of all sales on Monday, April 7th benefit Mitchell School.  Make sure to enter our raffle. One winner will receive 4 great seats to the sold out Vampire Weekend at the UIC Pavilion on June 5th. You do not need to be present to win. Be there!

Teaching Garden

The Mitchell School garden is calling for volunteers for a spring clean up on Saturday, April 26th. Come help prepare the school grounds for spring.  Activities planned:

-Amend organic soil & compost in edible raised beds

-Create a decorative stepping stone path in the Native Garden

-Picnic Table Raising

-Prune, rake & sweep garden spaces

-Install garden signs

-Litter patrol in garden and all Mitchell spaces

-Cleaning & Maintenance of rain barrels

Friends of Mitchell Scholastic Book Fair

The whole school is excited about our upcoming Book Fair taking place April 7-11 in the Map Room. An amazing selection of books is headed our way!  At the Book Fair you will find the latest and finest titles for kids, as well as books of interest to parents. Teachers will have wishlists available for Mitchell families to purchase books to be used in their child’s classroom. The Book Fair is a great way to get everyone excited about reading.  Please use this link from April 2-22 for our expanded online book fair. All purchases benefit Friends of Mitchell.

Parent Yoga

Parent yoga was a huge hit in March. Eight parents participated in the classes led by Kindergarten mom, Anna Argeropoulos. Over $45 was raised. Please check out the calendar on the Friends of Mitchell website for April dates.

Chang’s Martial Arts

During March, 18 students from Mitchell participated in classes at Chang’s Martial Arts. A big thank you to Chang’s as over $1,200 was raised for Friends of Mitchell.

April Calendar

April 1-April 4

Art Gallery – Come see your Bobcats come alive as artists.  Each student will have a selected WOW piece on display.  Come support the arts and give feedback to our budding artists.

April 4

Title I / BAC / PAC Meeting  8:30-9:30am in the Parent Room.

Evening of Dreams. Tickets are available for purchase on the website, on Fridays at the security desk at school 10:40am – 1pm, or the week of March 31-April 4 at after school pick up on the playground. Tickets are $35 in advance or $45 at the door.

April 7

1. No School – Report Card Pick Up/Student led Conferences.

2. Dine in @ Smoke Daddy BBQ restaurant. 11am-11pm 1804 W Division. Dine in, carryout or delivery. Please mention Mitchell when ordering.

3. Uniform Swap in the Media Center. Please bring gently used uniforms and swap for a bigger size.

Scholastic Book Fair in the Map room. Check out your teacher’s wishlists.

April 8

1. PreK Ready to Learn Application day at Mitchell. 1 – 4pm

2. Local School Council Meeting 3:30 – 4:30 pm

3. Tot Time in the PreK classroom 4 – 5pm

Self Care / Stress Management for Parents 10 – 11am in the Media Center.
